Can you still be a Police Officer in California with a Felony as a minor on your record?

I was 17 at the time and I recieved a Felony for Recieving Stolen Property. I am now 32 years old. Since then, I served 8 years Active Duty in the Navy, and even was a Miltary Police for 4 of those years. I know they say in California you cannot carry a firearm if you had a felony. I carried one all the time in the Military. I know its different though. I have not been in trouble with the Law since that Felony besides a few speeding tickets. Is there anyway a Police Department will overlook this Felony I had at age 17? This was 15 years ago. I would really hate for something I did when I was so young and dumb at the time, to effect me for the rest of my life. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree, I’m a Veteran of the Armed Forces, and been on good behavior since then. I regret doing what I did when I was 17…
